Oyster Pond and Beyond

Oyster Pond and Beyond

This photo was taken in the Leeward Islands last May. We had just completed a week-long sail around St. Martin and St. Barths and had spent our last night at Captain Oliver’s Resort on Oyster Pond. I walked down to their beach and snapped this shot of the swimming area, the steps/dock and the raft which was inviting me to swim to it.

Beyond, however, was the open ocean and the tiny island of Molly Baday, raising a hundred feet off the sea about two miles southeast of the opening to Oyster Pond. Fortuitously I lined up the dock and the raft to point you to beyond…

  1. I love the way the sunlight dances on the ocean, making it seem as if a million diamonds lay out there. Once I was pointing that out to someone and while we were all gazing out a whale breached at that moment. I took it very personally and felt at one with all of life.
