Sail, no, Drive Southern Cal!

DSCN4742Last week we decided it was time to go on a road trip.  If a sailing opportunity came up, so be it, but that wasn’t a “must do.”  Instead, we were going to tick off some items on our bucket list.  We didn’t really have a plan,  but knew our first stop was going to be Temecula, for a wine tasting.  So on the advice of a friend, we went to Wiens Family Cellars.  What a great idea…we were treated like royalty by Jakki.  She was informative, friendly, and fun!  Kudos to her for doing such a great job as our hostess for my very first wine tasting!Wiens Vineyards Captain and First Mate in the barrel room

After a quiet night in Temecula, we set our sights on Los Angeles.  For three years I’ve wanted to visit Street, owned by a fellow Green Bear (Ottawa Hills High School, Toledo, Ohio).  Now I can check that one off my bucket list, too.  OMG, the food was phenomenal!  If you’re ever in LA, I urge you to eat at Street!  I wanted to try everything on the menu, but I bought the cookbook instead! Susan even came out and hand delivered it to me, and autographed it as well.  It was a beautiful evening so we sat out in her courtyard.  What a lovely time!

Today we’ve moved on.  Come back tomorrow for more pictures and to find out where we are, or where we’ve BEEN!  Until then, smooth sailing from the Captain and first mate!
