>Have you heard of a BigWig?

>Centuries ago, men wore long wigs that boasted their wealth and importance.  Wanting to cash in on the look of importance,  naval captains, including Sir Henry Morgan and Captain Chaloner Ogle, who killed Black Bart Roberts, adopted the style.  Soon, a law was passed in England stating that only nobility, judges, and bishops could wear full-length wigs.  This is where the term bigwig came from.
